Need help with your KiwiSaver Investment Fund?
For many New Zealanders, KiwiSaver is the only investment they have. Recent research suggests many don't understand it, the correct type of fund they need, how to maximise returns, and how to check the funds performance against other similar funds.
We believe you should check your KiwiSaver fund each year. Is it still the right type of fund for when you plan to retire or use it for a first home? Is it a top 5 fund (performing better than all the rest)? are you contributing enough each year? and are the fees you are being charged still competitive?
It costs nothing to change Fund, Fund Type, or Provider. Many Kiwi's don't even know the name of the fund they are in, their balance, or how they were placed into that fund in the first place!
Our Free Retirement Planning Guide details how to select an appropriate 'top 5' fund. Once you are in the correct fund, you shouldn't have to change until you approach the year you want to retire. But each year you should still check-in to ensure the fund manager is doing they job and the fund has performed as expected. If not - change funds. it is too late by the time you retire.
